HTC One X users in the U.S. reported a design flaw that
ultimately affects the ability of the connection of the device when connected
to Wi-Fi networks.
On a number of cases reported, the impact of the failure of the
Wi-Fi is even able to suck the battery energy drastically. HTC reportedly is
paying full attention to this issue, and actively soliciting feedback from the
users of One X to help their engineering team to solve this problem.
If you're curious whether your X One devices also have a
similar problem, you can test it by pressing the back of the One X in between
the camera lens and the volume button. If the Wi-Fi signal increases when you
hit, but then decreased again after you disconnect, then we can be sure that
your devices including manufacturing defects.
Error factor of production of this device seems to lie in
the antenna which is not properly soldered. If you are pretty sure to do your
own teardown and soldering the part, then it is probably not a big problem. But
keep in mind that this action is very risky and could cause other damage to
your device. Moreover, this kind of action would directly violate the warranty
of the HTC and automatically removes your rights as a consumer protection.
Temporary solution to this problem is actively consult with
the HTC, and HTC recommends that users immediately exchange it for a new X One
device if it is still covered under warranty.
